All About Wood

We use only solid wood in our tables. No veneer, no laminates.

All our wood is kiln dried to 6-8% moisture content to ensure stability and a table free from structural problems, down the road.

We use only domestic, renewable wood resources. No offshore species

Most used species:
Pine - soft wood, was used almost exclusively by early table makers

Wormy Maple - has minor pin holes and coloured grain characteristics, has the hardness characteristics of regular maple

Maple - a closed grain wood which makes for wonderful smooth tops. Very hard, the same material used in cutting boards

Oak - an open grain wood with strong grain characteristics. Very hard, just like maple

Cherry - cherry is a hard wood with perhaps the most beautiful grain characteristics of all the domestic hardwoods.

Walnut - the wood which many other woods try to copy with “WALNUT” stain. Walnut is naturally dark in it’s raw form and absolutely gorgeous, but expensive
